Peter "Pete" P. Gyvis, 99, of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away at his home on Friday, October 28, 2011. He was born on August 29, 1912 in Detroit, Michigan to Peter & Agnes (Ulinskas) Gyvis. He married Eleanor Fair on May 25, 1940 in Allen Park, Michigan. Pete was a veteran of the United States Army, 11th Infantry, Third Army, Fifth Division, serving in World War II from 1943-1945 and earned 5 Bronze Stars. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7303. He was employed as a steel checker for the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn for over 37 years, retiring in 1974. He had lived in Gladwin County since 1974, previously residing in Lincoln Park, Michigan. He is survived by his wife of 71 years: Eleanor Gyvis of Beaverton and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister: Anna Stone. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at Hall-Kokoktovich Funeral Home, Beaverton, Michigan. Funeral Services will be conducted by the V.F.W. at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at 4:00 P.M. at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, Flat Rock, Michigan.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W.
