Richard A. Swanton, 79, of Beaverton, Michigan, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. He was born in Midland, Michigan on September 8, 1932 to Hazen & Edrie (Brown) Swanton. He married Shirley Ann Longstreth on August 28, 1951 in Gladwin, Michigan and spent 60 wonderful years together. Richard had lived in Gladwin County his entire life and was employed at Dow Chemical Company in Midland for 34 years, retiring in 1986. He is survived by his wife: Shirley Ann Swanton of Beaverton; daughters: Kerry (Troy) Staker of West Valley City, Utah; Cathy (Ted) Draves of Clarkston, MI; Jeannie (Bruce) Graves of Waxahachie, Texas; son: Alan Swanton of Vidor, Texas; daughters: Janet (Keith) Rahn of Gladwin, MI; Sally Ireland of Beaverton, MI; sons: Olon Swanton of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Kirk (Kristi) Swanton of Beaverton, MI; 27 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; brother: Lowell Swanton of Beaverton, MI; several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Maxine Daniels; Betty Daily; brother: Loomis Swanton; sisters: Marie Sersaw; Mary Mason; daughter in-law: Peggy; son in-law: Mike Ireland. Funeral Services will be conducted by Elder Don Terry on Saturday, December 17, 2011, 2:00 P.M. with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the Church of Christ Restored, 1848 N.
