Survived By: Douglas is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Doug & Sandy Don II of Akron, Tom & Roxie Don of Newburgh, Indiana and Elizabeth & John Trainor-Andrzejewski of Bricktown, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Douglas Don, Sr., age 85, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Heritage Hill in Caro. 
He was born on December 22, 1925 in Wahjamega, Michigan, the son of the late Percy and Lydia (Connor) Don.  In 1959 he moved with his family to Saginaw and later to Gainesville, Georgia,
returning to Caro to live about two years ago. Douglas was a Caro High School graduate and served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from July of 1944 until being discharged on July 29, 1946.  He was united in marriage with the former Lucille Thompson on October 17, 1970 in South Carolina and she preceded him in death in October of 2009. Douglas retired from Greyhound Buslines in Atlanta, Georgia in 1987 after twenty-five years of employment. He was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church in Gainesville, Georgia and their local  V.F.W Post.  Douglas loved bowling and was a member of the
Senior Olympics at the local and national level where his main events were the half mile race, bowling, basketball and pool.

Douglas is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Doug & Sandy Don II of Akron, Tom & Roxie Don of Newburgh, Indiana and Elizabeth & John Trainor-Andrzejewski of Bricktown, New Jersey; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, P.J. Don and Murle Don; one son, Michael Don in 2004 and an infant son, Peter Don.

Visitation will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday, December 22, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Burial will take place in Gainesville, Georgia at a later date.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contribution to the Douglas Don family discretionary fund, c/o 205 W.
