Survived By: On February 23, 1946 he married the former Eleanor Felske and they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. Eleanor survives him along with their five children: Lynch (Marilyn) Schabel, Janice (John) Stefanski, Terry (Julie) Schabel, Beverly (Thomas) Richard, and James (Teresa Stanuszek) Schabel; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother: Fr. Joseph Schabel; and his sister-in-law: Mildred Schabel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Francis Lynch Schabel and Thomas Hugh Schabel; and his daughter-in-law, Lori Schabel.
Affiliations: He resided in Munger his entire life. Ken farmed and was a welder at Defoe Shipyard. He was a member of St. Norbert Church, League of Catholic Women and Men, and IBEW Local 692. Ken enjoyed playing cards, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and being with his family and friends.

Age 89 years, passed away Saturday evening, December 24, 2011 in The Carriage House of Bay City.  He was born to the late Frank and Anne (Lynch) Schabel on September 28, 1922 in Merritt Township, MI.  He resided in Munger his entire life.  Ken farmed and was a welder at Defoe Shipyard. He was a member of St. Norbert Church, League of Catholic Women and Men, and IBEW Local 692.  Ken enjoyed playing cards, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and being with his family and friends.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM in St. Norbert Church, Munger.  His brother, Fr. Joseph Schabel will preside and private entombment will be in St. Patrick Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to “Wishes of the Family.”  The family will receive friends Wednesday at church from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass.  www.trahanfc.com
