Survived By: Robert leaves his loving wife Betty. To cherish his memory he leaves is devoted children; Barbara A. Ramirez; Sherman (Fred) Rubert and daughter-in-law Jeanine (Naples) Rubert of Elk Rapids, Michigan; and Wendy Rubert Bleike and son-in-law Charles Michael Bleike of Texas. His pride and joy are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Eric Sherman Rubert and wife Faun, Benjamin Clement Rubert and his wife Amanda, Lisa Michelle Rubert, Michael Sherman Ramirez, Aspen Ramirez; great-grandchildren; Emery Rubert, Lila Rubert and Gemma Rubert.
Affiliations: Robert started teaching in 1950 in California and spent 45 years as a public school teacher and coach. He challenged students at Ricker Jr. High School (Buena Vista) as a social science teacher and at Bridgeport/Spaulding High School as a substitute teacher after retiring from Ricker. Robert was also a decorated Saginaw Police Officer. Robert S. Rubert served as president of the Buena Vista MEA and of Bridgeport Country Club.

Robert Sherman Rubert of Bridgeport passed away Sunday January 1, 2012 at home.  Aged 87 years young.  Robert was born in 1924 in Saginaw to Sherman L. Rubert and Sarah A. (Hudson) Rubert.  He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1942.  He proudly served his country in WWII as a Navy Aviation Radioman in the Pacific.  After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he graduated from Modesto Junior College (A.A.), University of California-Santa Barbara (B.A.) and Central Michigan University (M.A) in 1975.

Robert and Betty E. (Haenlein) Rubert were married at the First Presbyterian Church-Saginaw September 16, 1944.  They were married for 67 years.  They raised three children and hosted seven foreign exchange students.  Robert started teaching in 1950 in California and spent 45 years as a public school teacher and coach.  He challenged students at Ricker Jr. High School (Buena Vista) as a social science teacher and at Bridgeport/Spaulding High School as a substitute teacher after retiring from Ricker.  Robert was also a decorated Saginaw Police Officer.  Robert S. For his friends and family, he leaves a legacy of honesty, integrity, generosity, and kindness.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State Street, Bridgeport, Michigan 48722, and Pastor Ron Sinclair will officiate.
