Kenneth O. Roberson, 88 of Midland, died Saturday morning, January 7, 2012 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. He was born June 3, 1923 in Midland, son of the late Orwin H. and Luella (Schaub) Roberson.
Kenneth was a life-long resident of Midland and had been employed as a supervisor with The Dow Chemical Company. On April 17, 1942 he married the former Cora D. Short in Freeland. Together they had two daughters and enjoyed 46 years of marriage until Cora’s death in April 1988. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing and being out-of-doors. He was a talented mason, made evident in chimneys on several homes in the area.
He is survived by his brothers: Lawrence (Betty) Roberson, Keith Roberson, Lyle Roberson; and a sister, Alice Goslin. He is also survived by 23 nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law Joan Roberson of Indiana. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters Penny Roberson and Vicky Roberson; a sister Aletha Hubbard, and nieces and nephews: Jeff Roberson, Karen Fitzgerald, Linda Roberson, Wendy Ann Knasel, Pamela Jo Osborn, and Christine Roberson.
Funeral services for Kenneth will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2012 from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Pastor Cecile Adams of the LaPorte Methodist Church will officiate with interment to follow in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Kenneth’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Rather than flowers, the family asks memorials be given to the LaPorte United Methodist Church or the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund.
