Passed away Thursday January 19, 2012.  Age 92 years.  Alvina Sophia Patterson was born October 23, 1919 in Saginaw to the late George and Sophia (Hawes) Patterson.  She married LaVern B. Minor June 27, 1938 in Angola, Indiana.  He predeceased her July 25, 1998.  Alvina was a member of First Presbyterian Church.  She was also a lifetime member of Martha Washington Chapter 13, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Basil (JoAnn) Minor, Saginaw, David (Marilyn) Minor, Cadillac, Myrna (Glen) Smith, Lake City, and Nancy (Gary) Hawkins, Saginaw; nine grandchildren, Tamara, Dawn, Dan, Sandy, Anna, Glen, Julie, Scott, and Lori; 16 great grandchildren, Tiffany, Ben, Brittany, Shannon, Sarah, Michael, Amanda, Glen, Shania, Monica, Justin, Scott, Sean, Jessiqua, Bailey, and Preston; four great-great grandchildren, Julio, Kaylynn, Aaliyah, and Caden; two siblings, Grace Thayer and Virgil Patterson; and many nieces and nephews.  Alvina was predeceased by three brothers and one sister, George, Albert, Lee and Goldie Patterson.
Funeral service will take place 10AM Tuesday January 24, 2012 at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550 S. Midland Road (S. M-47).  Rev. Robert Emrich will officiate with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Family and friends are welcome to gather at the funeral home on Monday from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday one hour before the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, Martha Washington Chapter 13, or the charity of your choice.
