      Passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, at his home.  Age 78 years.

      The son of the late Mary (Thornhill) and Fred Wellman Sr. was born March 10, 1933 in Landow, West Virginia.  He married Joan Midcalf, March 1, 1952. She passed away in February of 2001.  He was employed in Construction and loved to tell jokes and go to the casino.

      Surviving are four children and their spouses, William Wellman, Freeland, MI; Doretta and David  Ruyts, South Carolina;  Donna and Lonnie Crofoot, Merrill, MI;  Dale and Denese Wellman, Zeeland, MI; 7 grandchildren; six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; His special friend, Donna Henry and her family, Debbie and Chris Hafner; Steven and Anita Henry;  LouAnn and Louis LaPorte; Tammy  and Nate Wells; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren.  Three sisters, Dixie Reardon; Dorothy Byron and Eunice Lawson have predeceased him.

      The funeral service will take place at 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd.  Chaplain James Salo will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may call at the Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until Noon and from 1:00 p.m.  until the time of the funeral service.
