Harold Ray Crosson, 81, of Sanford, died, Friday evening, February 3, 2012 at his home. He was born on May 25, 1930 in Strattonville, PA., son of the late Thomas and Vera (McNaughton) Crosson. Harold married the former Norma Haught on January 12, 1954 at the Mapleton Church of Christ. He had worked at the Dow Corning Corporation and retired from there as a shift supervisor. Harold served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, his medals included an Air Force medal with two oak leaf clusters and the distinguished flying cross. His most joyous times were those spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Midland Church of Christ and loved his church and his family. Harold loved sports; he coached Babe Ruth and Connie Mack baseball teams. He played softball and later played in the Golden Grand Masters Men over 60 League. Harold enjoyed watching baseball and football and was a regular at his grandchildren’s sporting events, attending whenever he could. Surviving is his wife Norma; one son, Steven Ray (Judy) Crosson of Midland; four daughters, Barbara Jean (Jack) Harper of Sanford, Gail Reiko Shortlidge of Ohio, Donna Jean Haught of Bay City and Carol Ann (Richard) Koebel of Ohio; one brother, Dean Crosson; two sisters, H. Geraldine Shingledecker and C. Ilene Nichol; 11 grandchildren, Bryan Smith, Carry Meyers, Andrew Meyers, Michael Crosson, Katrina and Kyle Crosson, Jack Harper III, Sarah Church, Nicholas Koebel and Joshua Koebel and by three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by one daughter and son-in-law; Vera Katrina (Martin) Mieske; one sister, Shirley Mays. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Mike Luppanoff will officiate with burial in Sanford Cemetery. Harold’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
