LANE, Bryce S. - of Montrose, age 68, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be 3 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Rev. Dan Pugh officiating. Burial will be at Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 AM until time of services at 3 PM. Contributions may be made to the Barber Park in his memory.
Bryce was born July 7, 1943 in Flint to the late James and Mary (McClure) Lane and was a resident of Montrose his entire life. He married Marty Gubbins on September 25, 1971 in Montrose. Mr. Lane retired from Service Employees International Union as a Regional Representative. He then served 1 term as Montrose Township Supervisor. He was instrumental in starting the Barber Park, acquiring state grants and funding. He remained active in the political arena. Bryce enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and dealing with antique cars and motorcycles. He was a Tigers fan and participated in many men's softball leagues.
Surviving are: wife, Marty; 2 daughters, Vicky Byarley of IN, Angie (Brian) Guyer of Montrose; grandchildren, Madison, Bryce and Brynn (on the way); brothers, James "Tom" (Carol) Lane of Burt, Jerry (Gail) Lane of Montrose, Joel (Barbara) Lane of TN; many nieces and nephews; close friend, Mike Cole of Flushing.
