Survived By: Surviving is her son and daughter and their spouses, Richard "Dick" and Bonnie Harmon of Auburn, MI; and Deborah Buschman and her husband, Dr. James of Tuxedo Park, New York; three grandchildren, Joseph H. Harmon and his wife Kristin of Webster, New York; Mary J. Harmon of Midland; and Christiann V. Harmon of Auburn, MI and two great grandchildren, Andrew Harmon and Isabella Harmon. Also surviving is her brother-in-law, Kenneth Harmon of Fowler, MI; one step-sister, Geri Dawson of California. In addition to her parents and husband, June was predeceased by her step-father, Clarence A. Dawson, her brother-in-law, H.B. Harmon and her sister-in-law, Mildred Harmon.

June Belle Harmon died peacefully on Sunday, February 5th at her home of thirty years in Sanford, Michigan.  In her final hours she was surrounded by family, friends, her parish priest and her compassionate health care team.  June was born on February 8, 1920 in Cassopolis, Michigan to the late Harvey Bloomer and his wife, Velda Bloomer, nee Shank.  

 

June was raised in South Bend, Indiana, spending summers with maternal grandparents in Penn, Michigan.  She graduated from the Washington-Clay School in South Bend where her studies included business classes and theatrical productions.  She worked as a nurse's aide during the early years of World War II followed by several administrative office positions.  It was at one of those jobs in Coldwater, Michigan that she met Harold "Doc" Harmon whom she married.  Shortly thereafter the couple moved to Gaylord, Michigan where they raised their family and developed and enjoyed their lake property.  While living in Gaylord June spent several years working as an administrative assistant in the Gaylord Public Schools.  June and Doc relocated to Sanford in 1982 where they were active in the Midland County Sport Fishing Association and St. Agnes Catholic Church.

A Memorial Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, February, 9, 2012 from the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Sanford. Fr. Daniel J. Fox OFM Cap will officiate with Committal Services to take place at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Agnes Cemetery in Sanford. Mrs. Harmon’s Family will receive friends at the Church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Agnes Catholic Church, the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund in Midland or the Capuchin Kitchen in Detroit. Funeral and cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 1200 West Wheeler St. Midland, Michigan.
