Stella Kantor "Stublensky"
KANTOR, Stella “Stublensky” - Of Flint, age 94, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held 11am Thursday, December 24, 2009 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 S. Center Road, Burton, Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Visitation 3-9pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Parastas Service will be held 7:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Kantor will be at the church 10am Thursday until the time of the service.
Stella was born in Flint on December 12, 1915, and she was a resident of Flint all of her life. Stella graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1935 and was the concert mistress of the school orchestra. She married Joseph Kantor on December 4, 1941 in Flint. She was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and St. Catherines Woman’s League. Stella was employed at AC Spark Plug during World War II and was an interpreter for the International Institute. She managed her families’ restaurants, retiring in 1977. Stella liked baking and cooking, she was best known for her chocolate baklava and she enjoyed going to band and choir concerts.
Surviving are daughter, Jo Ann Havens Of Flint;
Son, Johnny of Flint;
Numerous nieces and nephews.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, parents, sister, Nicolina and brother, Mike.
