Cantin, Mary L. (Marie Adamski) of Auburn, Michigan passed away Saturday afternoon, December 26, 2009 at Brian’s House at the age of 77 after bravely fighting leukemia. She was born March 1, 1932 in Standish to the late Joseph and Mary (Setlak) Adamski. She married Hugh Cantin on June 27, 1953; he preceded her in death March 14, 1992. Mrs. Cantin was a housewife and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a former Girl Scout Leader.
Surviving are her daughter Paula M. Flood and son-in-law Henry D. Flood, III of Auburn; two grandchildren Corporal Adam Jill and fiancée Vanessa Spiteri, currently serving with the United States Marines in Okinawa, Japan, and Renée Jill of Southfield. Mrs. Cantin is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Henry and Gloria Adamski; two step-grandchildren Aaron and Emily Flood; and she was aunt, great aunt, and great-great aunt many times over. Mrs. Cantin was preceded in death by her sisters Stella Daniels and Anna Haiser, and her brothers Albert, Joseph, and Walter Adamski.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Abramson, BRMC 3rd Floor, and the staff of McLaren’s Visiting Nurses and Brian’s House for the loving care shown to Mrs. Cantin.
The Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Chester J. Pilarski will officiate with Rite of Committal to follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may call at the Stapish Cederberg Funeral Home West on Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where a Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Cantin will lie in state at church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass. Memorials are available at the funeral home for Sacred Heart Church and Brian’s House.
