Passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at her son’s home after a lengthy illness. Age 86 years. Marguerite was born July 26, 1923 in Owosso, Michigan to Harlow and Cora (Smith) Stoddard. She married Herman Maier on December 31, 1943. He preceded her on December 26, 2006. Marguerite was a member of the Brant United Methodist Church, Sunday School teacher and Superintendent and belonged to the ladies groups for over 60 years. She retired from Owosso Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department.

Surviving are two sons and spouses, Duane (Ruth Ann) Maier, Kenneth (Lucille) Maier; a daughter, Joyce Dingler; a daughter-in-law, Virgel Maier; 10 grandchildren, Robin Buckley, Dennis and Gail Sigmund, Patrick and Stacy Noyes, Allen and Amy Maier, Kenneth F. Maier, Jr. and Beth Petricevic, Lisa Maier, April Dean and Kevin Lobraco, Ryan Richard and Jennifer Maier, Dawn and Bill Ordway, Brock Dingler and Chanel Guthrie; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Devereaux and Della Urbain; a brother, Dale Stoddard and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Herman; a son, Richard; a daughter, Elaine; two great granddaughters, Gabrielle and Jessica; a sister, Lela Burk and a brother, Chester Stoddard.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Kendall Funeral Home, St. Charles. Nephew Robert Dale Urbain will officiate with burial in Brant Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
