Louise Marie Dalton December 11, 1914 – October 14, 2012
Louise Marie (Moored) Dalton was born in a bedroom of her Highland Township homestead on December 11, 1914 to Fredrick Monroe and Gladys (Graham) Moored. She attended grade school at the Moored Pioneer Schoolhouse (the current Highland Township Hall) and in 1933 graduated from Flint Northern High School. She married Paul (Jack) Randall Dalton of Flint in May, 1933, later giving birth to her daughter, Jacqulin. She and her new family returned to her homestead permanently in 1938 to settle on the family farm. Throughout her lifetime, she and her family produced livestock, timber, produce, and maple syrup. Mrs. Dalton was a devoted member of the Democratic Party, and was actively involved in the election process for many years. For 25 years she was a 4H leader, instructing young ladies in the art of sewing, and was the director of the Moored Pioneer #1 School Board until 1964. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining guests at her farm, gardening, pets, painting woodcrafts and canning produce.
Mrs. Dalton was preceded in death by her husband (1990), two brothers Robert Monroe (1919) and Owen DeAlton (1978), and son-in-law Ray Lawrence Kulis (2006).
She is survived by her only daughter Jacqulin Louise (Dalton) Kulis, two grandchildren Jerrilyn Rae (Kulis) Pecsek and Jack Dalton Kulis, two great-grandchildren, Samantha Louise and Jason Cameron Kulis of Flushing. Also surviving her are niece and nephew, Shana Marie Stahl of Tustin and Wesley Grover of Luther. She has many loving relatives surviving from her marriage including sister-in-law Mary Palmer of Piggot, Arkansas, nephews James Dalton of Melvindale, and Kenneth Dalton of Clinton and nieces Eva Mae Willingham of Melvindale and Maxine Turner of Piggot, Arkansas. There are many other remembered nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
A special Thank You to all of the close friends and neighbors who have been of immeasurable support throughout Marie’s life. Her time here was made full and rewarding by the love and kindness you have all shown.
Funeral service will be conducted by Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home, 406 E. Main St. in Marion, Michigan 49665, (231) 743-2411. Visitation is on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, and again on Friday, Oct. 19 11 am-12 pm, with a service conducted at 12 noon. Burial will take place at the Highland Twp. #1 Cemetery after the services.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Dalton requested donations be made to the Missaukee Humane Society, located at 5310 W. Houghton Lake Rd in Lake City, MI 49651.
