Marguerite F. Hough, age 89 of Owendale, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Gladwin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Oak Hill, Ohio on August 16, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mira (McCain) Howard, and graduated from Jefferson Township Consolidated School in Oak Hill. She married Peter Bletl in 1942, and he died in 1943. She married Albert Hoffman in Kilmanagh in 1946; he preceded her in death in 1982. In June, 1990 she married George Hough, who died in 2007.
From 1956-1959, Marguerite worked as a waitress in the family restaurant in Owendale, and in the 60’s and 70’s she worked at Automotive Industries, also in Owendale. She then worked at General Cable in Cass City, which she retired from in 1980. She had also completed Beauty School and did all of her family’s hair.
Marguerite was a cancer survivor since 1963. She loved gardening, baking, and cooking, as well as knitting, crocheting, and needlework. She was known as a “jack of all trades, but master of none.” She enjoyed painting with oils, water, and acrylics; also painting walls and wallpapering. Marguerite loved to play games such as Skip-Bo and especially Scrabble, but hated to lose. She enjoyed traveling in the U.S. to places such as Colorado, Florida, Arizona, California, and Washington.
She was a member of the Gagetown Church of the Nazarene.
Her survivors include three children, Patricia Lang of Zephyrhills, Florida, Donald (Linda) Hoffman of Gladwin, and June Meyer of Hudson; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jean Putman and Fern VanSickle of Owendale, and Hazel Good of Gagetown; aunts, Carrie Brisker and Elsie Howard of Oak Hill, Ohio; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Howard and Esther Powell. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherrie Sivavajchaipong; granddaughter, Chanda DeVore; grandson, Christopher Sivavajchaipong; brothers, Paul Howard and Edward Howard, Jr.; sisters, Georgia Pavlichek and Alberta Bach; and son-in-law, Edward Lang.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Gagetown Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Kyle Boils, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Grant Township Cemetery.
