Viola M. Abraham
Passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at Meadow View Manor in Saginaw after a lengthy illness, age 87 years. Viola Hetzner was born on November 9, 1924 in Frankentrost, MI to the late Martin and Margaret (Kolbe) Hetzner. She married Otto Abraham on May 26, 1945. He preceded her in death on January 20, 1981. During the war years, Viola worked at Lufkin Rule and the Saginaw Transmission Plant. After her marriage, she worked on their farm alongside her husband Otto. She was a cook for the Buena Vista Schools and later was employed by Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland. Viola was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and the Choir. She enjoyed baking, gardening and playing her organ.
Surviving are 3 sons, Larry (Judy) Abraham, John (Doris) Abraham, and James (Linda) Abraham; 7 grandchildren, Julie (Ryan) Branch, Eric (Karyn) Abraham, Ben, Rebecca, Rachel, Aaron, and Caleb (Emily) Abraham; a great-grandchild, Keiran Branch; and 2 brothers, Ruben Hetzner, and Harvey (Marilyn) Hetzner.
Viola was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters, Norman Hetzner, Gerhardt Hetzner, Evelyn Heinlein, Ruth Dexter, and Janet (DeVeaux) Memmer.
Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 E. Holland Rd. Saginaw. Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial in St. John’s Cemetery Frankentrost. Viola’s family will receive visitors at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
