Schools, Mr. Richard M. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center – Cooper. Age 88 years. Richard was born on November 18, 1921, in Ashland, VA to the late Elijah and Florence (Fogg) Schools. Richard served his country during WWII from 1938 to 1945, after reenlisted he served during the Korean War, from 1950 until he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1951. He was a member of American Legion Post #22. He also had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Prior to his retirement in 1984, Richard was employed as an electrician for 40 years. Richard was married to D. Marlow (Marsden) Sedlak on May 1, 1971, in Saginaw, where she predeceased him on September 27, 2009. Surviving are his children, Richard Schools, Jr., VA; Haley (Amy) Schools, CA; Karen (Rev. Ron) Schornhorst, GA; Kip (Kelly) Sedlak, Saginaw; Kevin (Robin) Sedlak, N.J.; Kimberle (Mark) Krazsewski, Cadillac; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert (Margaret) Schools, VA.; also a very special nephew, Mark Marsden and a special niece, Shelly Chasnis.

  Memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. The Rev. Michael R. Korte will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
