HOLLAND, Donald W. – of Clio, age 61, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 12-8PM and on Saturday from 12 noon until time of services at 1pm. Private inurnment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Donald was born September 24, 1952 in Flint to Blass and Ada (Putman) Holland. He graduated Clio High School in 1970. Donald married Denise Daidone on October 11, 1980 in Clio. He retired in 2009 from GM Truck and Bus UAW Local 598 with 31 years seniority. Don was a member of the (MRA) Michigan Ropers Association. He was a journeyman carpenter and enjoyed working on projects, fixing houses and cabins, loved being out in the pole barn working on cars, tractors and all equipment. His other passion was team roping, and spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife, Denise; children, Danelle (Alan) Freeman of Clio, Donald Jr. (Crystal) Holland of Clio; grandchildren, Makenna, Wyland and expecting a grandchild in May; mother, Ada Holland of Clio; mother and father-in-law; Joseph and Shirley Daidone; sisters, Paulette (Larry) Freeman of AR, Kathy (Freddie) Mercer of AR, Mildred (Bill) Young of Clio, Judy Brown and Al of Clio; sister-in-law, Sherri (Eric) Duty of Swartz Creek; many other family members and close friends.
