Bay City

Beloved father and grandfather passed away peacefully with his family at his side after a brief illness on Monday, November 19, 2012 at age 84.  He was born December 19, 1927 to the late Edward and Lena (Bullock) Legner in Bay City.  He was employed by General Motors in Bay City for over 25 years.  Ken was a member of St. James Church, its Usher’s Club and a past member of the Elk’s and Moose Club.  Ken enjoyed sports, traveling, and spending time with his family.  He was married to the former Mary Jane Wozniak who died on November 27, 2003.

   He is survived by his seven children:  Kevin (Sharon) Legner of Bay City, Mark (Koula) Legner of Saginaw, Kim (Jim) Janowiak of Michigan City, IN, Karla (Danny) Oakes of Essexville, Matt (Ellen Drotar) Legner of Thornton, CO, Kurt (Wendy) Legner of Bay City, Kerri (Jon) Hagloch of Bay City; 28 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister:  Shirley Gray; his sister-in-law: Gerry Witucki; and a special friend, Kathleen Loper.

   Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Edward Legner; his sister-in-law:  Delores Legner; and two brothers-in-law:  Gordon Gray and Robert Witucki.

   The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 am in St. James Church.  Ken will lie in state in church Monday after 10:00 am.  Rev. Robert J. DeLand will preside and cremation will follow with inurnment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be designated for St. James Church Langley Hall.  Visiting hours with the family will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 with the Vigil Prayer Service at 4:00 pm in the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
