Chapin Township

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in Otsego County.  Age 73 years. He was born on February 10, 1939 at home in Chapin Township to the late Carl and Wilma “Grace” (Finch) George. Dave married Margaret “Sis” Gross on October 1, 1960, she survives him. Dave graduated from  Chesaning Union High School class of “1957” . Dave retired from Hehr Manufacturing with 35 years   service and also had worked for Twin Brooks  Golf Club. Dave enjoyed playing softball, golf, woodworking, traveling, hunting and especially watching his grandchildren in their activities.

Dave is survived by his wife, Margaret “Sis”, 5 children; Karen Sargent of Strafford, NH, Carmen  (Lawrence) Prill of Chesaning, John (Sally) George of Flushing,  Steve (Darlene) George of Owosso, Sara (Dan) Luft of Chesaning, 12 grandchildren; Amanda, Abigail and Russell Sargent, Michael Prill, Austin and Mason , Ashley, Matthew, Emma and David George, Paige and Haylee Luft, sibling; Judy Eldridge of Perrington, Carl (Patti) George of Sheridan, Oregon, Don George of Ovid, Ruth (David) Whaley, Alan (Connie) George and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Other special people in Dave’s life were  the Rehmann’s softball team  and his golfing and hunting buddies.

According to Dave’s wishes he has been cremated and a private family service will be held at a later time. There will be a friends and family celebration of his life held at the Walker-Martin funeral Home, Chesaning on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers memorial are suggested to your favorite charity. www.wmartinfuneralhome.com.
