Kelly, Mr. Raymond K. Jr.,
Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center. Age 72 years. The son of the late Raymond and Josephine (Hart) Kelly, Ray was born July 28, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Kathleen Slominski, his loving wife of 53 years, on September 26, 1959. She survives him. Ray was employed at General Motors for nearly 34 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Ray and Kathleen enjoyed spending winters at their home in Zephyrhills, Florida, golfing, and sports, especially watching the Detroit Lions and Detroit Tigers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and being an active part of their lives.
Surviving besides his wife Kathleen are three sons, one daughter and their spouses, Raymond Kelly III, Kuna, Idaho; Cheryl and Kurt Avila, Prudenville; Roger and Sally Kelly, Saginaw; Brian and Beth Kelly, Saginaw; seven grandchildren, Amber (Matthew) Chorba, Kayla Kelly, Nick Avila, Ashley Kelly, Kyle Kelly, Nichole Kelly and Brianne Loiselle; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Lorene and Earl Frederick, Penny and Ken O’Connor and Danny and Pat Kelly; many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Kelly.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Matthew Catholic Church.
