Survived By: She is survived by her children: Patricia Corner of Midland, Jack (Patricia) Horden of Beaverton, Terry (Lois) Horden of Midland, Joanne (Jim) McNally of Washington and Carol (Clark) Sanders of Nebraska. Grandma Kittie will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: David Corner of Montana, Gregory Corner of Florida, Kalynn Meyer of Beaverton, Bruce Horden and Ty Horden of Missouri, Cami Pitman and Darcie Peterson of Omaha, Laura Shedden of Midland, Alex Horden of Plymouth, Tonnie Ansay of Colorado; twenty-five great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and a sister Dorothy Hickerson. In addition to her parents Kittie was preceded in death by her husband Leo on February 12, 1979, her son in law Burr Corner, mother in law Nora 'Grandma' Horden and her brother Wayne Welling.

Kittie S.  Horden, 95 of Midland died Wednesday evening December 6, 2012 at MidMichigan Stratford Village.  She was born June 4, 1917 in Midland the daughter of the late Eugene and Florence (Dixon) Welling.

 

Kittie had attended Midland schools and graduated from Midland High School in 1936.  On June 4, 1937 she married Leo Horden.  She was very active in her church until her health declined over the past couple years.  Kittie enjoyed doing arts and crafts, making mission quilts for burnt out or misplaced families, and working in her flower gardens; giving away the beautiful flowers that she raised.  Kittie also took great pride in being the church historian and genealogist of her family.  She loved to travel and took many trips to see her family in Washington and Nebraska.  Kittie lived a long active life with her special friends Agnes Sommerville and Goldie Toner. 

 

She is survived by her children: Patricia Corner of Midland, Jack (Patricia) Horden of Beaverton, Terry (Lois) Horden of Midland, Joanne (Jim) McNally of Washington and Carol (Clark) Sanders of Nebraska.  Grandma Kittie will be greatly missed by her grandchildren: David Corner of Montana, Gregory Corner of Florida, Kalynn Meyer of Beaverton, Bruce Horden and Ty Horden of Missouri, Cami Pitman and Darcie Peterson of Omaha, Laura Shedden of Midland, Alex Horden of Plymouth, Tonnie Ansay of Colorado;  twenty-five  great grandchildren, two  great-great grandchildren; and a sister Dorothy Hickerson.   In addition to her parents Kittie was preceded in death by her husband Leo on February 12, 1979, her son in law Burr Corner, mother in law Nora ‘Grandma’ Horden and her brother Wayne Welling.

 

Funeral services for Kittie will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from the Gordonville United Methodist Church.  Pastor Tom Schomaker will officiate with interment to follow in Homer Township Cemetery.  Kittie’s family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 p.m., again on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Gordonville United Methodist Church.
