Yowanna Skipworth passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Heartland Healthcare Center-Saginaw. Age 73 years. He was born September 25, 1939 in Florence, Alabama to Junious and Charlotte Skipworth.
Yowanna was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan. He was a 1958 graduate of Saginaw High School. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged after eight years of service. He was employed at CAC – Community Action Center for 33 years until his health failed. Yowanna was a participant with the Kumba actors. He took great pride participating in the annual Black Arts Festival in Saginaw, Michigan. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory four siblings, Allene Bankhead, Florence, Alabama, Mae Ella Wright, Tickfaw, Louisiana, Charles Ada (Albert) Jennings, Saginaw, Michigan, Josephine Hewitt, Atlanta, Georgia; one aunt, Dee Ritter, Medina, Ohio; one uncle, John L. Sanders, Medina, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Albert Jennings.
Yowanna was preceded in death by his parents, Junious and Charlotte Skipworth and three brothers-in-law.
The family would like to express special thanks to the ER and SICU unit staffs at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper, the staff of Covenant Healthcare-Harrison 7 east, Heartland Healthcare Center, Pastor Ernest Reed and the Greater Solid Rock Baptist Ministries church family, Ivan E.
