Survived By: Brother Tom (Goldie) Wright of Midland; son, Robin (Lori) Wright of Midland, daughter, Becky (Carlyle) Gover of Early, Texas; grandson, Daniel Wright of Midland, grandson, Carlyle James Gover of Early, Texas, granddaughter, Maggie Gover of Early, Texas; long time companion, Nancy Bonham; and best buddy, Oscar Hahn, both of Midland. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Wright; sisters, Roberta Glesner and Joan Glesner.
Affiliations: He was a product Midland Public Schools, Graduating from Midland High School in 1957. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, Joining with a group of his buddies from 1957 to 1960. He started his family in California where he was stationed and moved "back Home" to Midland in 1963. Jim was born to sell, working for Cook Coffee, Rainbow Bread, Farm Crest Bakery, United Food Brokerage, Giant Supermarket, Until Finally Finding his Calling selling Real Estate in the town he knew and loved so well. He derived enjoyment from the simple things in life, most of all talking with and caring about his many friends, watching his grandkids participate in their adventures, Golfing with buddies, picking the winners of the NFL games on Sunday, or just a good game of blackjack. He believed in his community and gave back by participating in being a Big Brother, Sunrise Optimist, Noon Exchange, Elks, Northwood Chain Gang and others.

Our beloved father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, James R. Wright Jr., 75, died Thursday, January 3, 2013. The son of the late James and Maimie (Shauver) Wright was born on January 27, 1937, in Midland.  He was a product Midland Public Schools, graduating from Midland High School in 1957.

 

Jim was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, joining with a group of his buddies from 1957-1960. He started his family in California where he was stationed and moved "back home" to Midland in 1963. Jim was born to sell, working for Cook Coffee, Rainbow Bread, Farm Crest Bakery, United Food Brokerage, Giant Supermarket, until finally finding his calling selling real estate in the town he knew and loved so well. He derived enjoyment from the simple things in life, most of all talking with and caring about his many friends, watching his grandkids participate in their adventures, golfing with buddies, picking the winners of the NFL games on Sunday, or just a good game of blackjack. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Wright; sisters, Roberta Glesner and Joan Glesner.

 

Funeral services for Jim will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 9, 2013, from Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street.  Rev. Dr. J.D. Landis will officiate, with military honors presented by the Midland Area Veterans and the United States Marine Corps. Jim’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 pm, and on Wednesday from 10 am until time of the service.
