Wardin, Donald O.
Passed away Saturday afternoon January 5, 2012 at Covanent HealthCare-Cooper in Saginaw after a brief illness at the age of 93 years. Donald was born January 5, 1920 in Freeland, MI to the late Otto J. and Minnie R. (Fiting) Wardin and has resided in this area all of his life. Donald was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. He served as an usher for 25 years at the Spring Training facility for the Detroit Tigers, the Joker-Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, FL. He was an avid Tigers Fan and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Donald retired from Gerace Construction, Midland after many years of service. On April 8, 1947 Donald married Erna L. Schiesswohl, she still survives him. Donald is also survived by a sister; Donna (James) Reichard of Bay City, many nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law; Ted Schiesswohl of Washington state, and three sister-in-laws; Sue Wardin of Midland, Elfreida Hill of Delta, CO and Janet Jansen of Bay City. A sister; Elva Schlicker and a brother; Robert Wardin have predeceased Donald.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday January 13, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, Freeland. Rev. Robert G. Schmidt will officiate. Per Donald’s wishes, burial has already taken place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
Friends may call at Zion Lutheran Church on Sunday from 12:00p.m. Noon until time of service.
