She passed away quietly January 2, 2013 at age 82, after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 6, 1930 to the late Raymond and Ethel Plourde in Berkley, Michigan .

Until 2009 Anne was the owner and active manager of the Dollar Daze chain of dollar stores in mid-Michigan. Retail was Anne’s passion, starting with a fabric store that she opened in Standish in the late 1960’s, going on to gift stores in Standish, Midland and Bay City, and finally being one of the first to recognize a wave of the future, the dollar store, in 1992. She had a great entrepreneurial spirit.

She is survived by brother Arthur Plourde and sister Janet Hamal, and children Christine Ralph, Daniel Ralph, David Ralph, Bonnie Malanga, Matthew Ralph and Jennifer Kime. She was predeceased by daughter Janet Saukas. She has fifteen grandchildren, and twenty seven nieces and nephews. Anne was a mainstay of the extended family, helping to organize family reunions for over 100 people since the 1960’s.

She will be sorely missed by all her family. A memorial service date has yet to be specified.
