Survived By: She is survived by her children: Robert Ray (Stacey) Draves, Jr. of Tucson AZ, Diana Marie (John) Hall of Edenville, Joanne L. (Brian) Blevins, Cheryl L. (Doug) Shattuck, Timothy P. (Terri) Draves, all of Midland; Sandra Kay (Louis) Hand of San Antonio TX and daughter-in-law Lydia Draves of Edenville; Fourteen grandchildren: Rayanne, Amber, Brittany, Trenton, Sarah, Angela, Jason, Sheri, Christy, Shelly, Sarah, Russell, Joshua, and Nicholas; seventeen great grandchildren and her best friend/sister Betty Christensen of Midland. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ray 'Whitey' Draves, Sr. on December 16, 1994, a daughter Rose, a son Michael Draves on February 10, 2009, grandsons Andrew Draves, Justin Infante on July 12, 2009; brothers Stanley and John Elmore, and sisters Annabelle Snellenberger and Marylou Waskavich.

Barbara Jane Draves, 81 of Edenville, died Friday afternoon, January 4, 2013 at the MidMichigan Medical Center.  She was born July 14, 1931 in Hope the daughter of the late Sherman and Emma (Luenberger) Elmore.  On August 8, 1949 she married Robert Ray ‘Whitey’ Draves, Sr. in Midland at St. Brigid Catholic Church.  Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was employed 27 years as a bus driver with Meridian Public Schools, and still baked until more recently over 35 years for St. Anne’s Fund Raiser Bazaar.  Her fondness of cooking and baking was matched by her love of knitting, playing cards, reading, and spending time at the casino. 

 

She is survived by her children: Robert Ray (Stacey) Draves, Jr. of Tucson AZ, Diana Marie (John) Hall of Edenville, Joanne L. (Brian) Blevins, Cheryl L. (Doug) Shattuck, Timothy P. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 from St. Annne’s Catholic Church in Edenville with Fr. Christian Tabares officiating.  Rite of committal will follow in New Edenville Cemetery.  Barbara’s family will receive friends at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. again on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., and at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until time of Mass.  A Vigil for the deceased will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Cancer Society.
