Irene had seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.

Arnst, Irene Margaret, age 98, went to live with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 6, 2010. A lifelong resident of Saginaw, Irene was born on December 2, 1911, the daughter of Engelbert and Mary (Raschman) Riedlinger. Irene was Baptized in December 1911 and confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1925 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She married Oscar Arnst on September 14, 1929. He predeceased her on February 20, 1961. She was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital in the housekeeping department until her retirement in December, 1977. Irene was a woman of strong faith. She was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Irene enjoyed her church, her family and friends and especially visits from her minister and vicar. Surely goodness and mercy followed her all the days of her life. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Gerald (Leslee) Arnst, Hemlock, MI; Betty (Ron) Ette, Thomas Twp., MI; Richard Arnst, Saginaw, MI; her brother, Robert Riedlinger, Saginaw, MI; her sister Marilyn Riedlinger, Saginaw, MI; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Riedlinger, Saginaw, MI; and Ella Arnst, Saginaw, MI. Irene had seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.  Irene was predeceased by three brothers, Engelbert (Butch), Frederick and William.

Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5335 Brockway Rd. The Rev. Mark P. Buckert and Vicar Brian Liermann will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc., 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., then at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be given to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
