Jacob H. Dewald, 79, of Au Gres, Mich., passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region, Bay City, Mich.

            Mr. Dewald was born April 18, 1933 in Turner Township, MI to the late Jacob E. and Emily Dewald. 

            Mr. Dewald proudly served in the United States Army from 1955 – 1957.  Upon discharge, Mr. Dewald moved back to Arenac County where he began working for Bay City Shovel.  Mr. Dewald married the former Arlene Trombley and together they raised three sons, Rodney, Robert and Ronald.

            Mr. Dewald was a member of the Twining Baptist Church, enjoyed watching western television shows, playing cards with his grandchildren and enjoying a cup of coffee.

            Mr. Dewald is survived by his three sons, Rodney Dewald, Robert Dewald, and Ronald Dewald; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Lydia) Dewald, Aaron (Alicia) Dewald, Rachel (Tony) Dolunt, Zachary Dewald, Austin Dewald, Logan Dewald, Cody Dewald; five great-grandchildren, Brayden Dewald, Nathan and Liam Dewald, Samantha and Anthony Dolunt; four sisters, Bernice Metcalf, Adeline Ridenour, Esther Woodward, Hilda Sass.

            Besides his parents, Mr. Dewald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Arlene in 1984.

            Visitation for Mr. Dewald will take place 4-8 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the C.L. Forshee & Sons Funeral Homes, Inc., Au Gres chapel.  Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the Twining Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremy Lee officiating.  Mr. Dewald will lie in state at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.  Interment will be in Linwood Cemetery with Military Honors.
