Survived By: His daughter Pam Bowden; his son Rick (Cindy) Bowden; two grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Bowden; a special friend Janet Hall; three brothers, Edward (Florence) Bowden, Richard (Lois) Bowden, and Kurt (Betty Jo) Bowden; one sister Cheryl (John) Korth; a brother-in-law David Koenig; and many cousins. Harold was predeceased by his sister Sally Koenig.

Passed away Wednesday January 9, 2013 at the age of 77 years.  The son of the late Richard and Ellen (Hauman) Bowden was born May 23, 1935 in Saginaw.  He was a member of the National Honor Society at Arthur Hill High School and later graduated with honors from his beloved Michigan State University, where he earned a Masters Degree in Science and was an education specialist. He was also a captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.  Harold was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hemlock, where he served as a trustee, a board of education member, and a member of the board of elders.  He was employed as a teacher and administrator in several area schools and retired from Swan Valley in 1994.  Harold enjoyed traveling and gardening, and delivered Meals-On-Wheels to area seniors.
Surviving are his daughter Pam Bowden; his son Rick (Cindy) Bowden; two grandchildren, Matthew and Megan Bowden; a special friend Janet Hall; three brothers, Edward (Florence) Bowden, Richard (Lois) Bowden, and Kurt (Betty Jo) Bowden; one sister Cheryl (John) Korth; a brother-in-law David Koenig; and many cousins.  Harold was predeceased by his sister Sally Koenig.
Funeral service will take place 11AM Monday, January 14, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, 2290 Pretzer Road.  Pastor Phil Bigelow will officiate.  Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.  Friends and family are welcome to gather at the Reitz Herzberg Funeral Home, 1550   S. Midland Rd. (S. M-47) on Sunday from 1PM until 6PM and at the church on Monday one hour before the service.  Memorial offerings are suggested to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, Lewy Body Dementia Assoc., or Michigan State University Agricultural Department.
