Shelby J. (Kipfmiller) Yonkey a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister,
aunt and dear friend passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday January 9, 2013 with
her family by her side. She was born on May 21, 1951 the daughter of Armond and
the late Lorna (Gaiser) Kipfmiller. Shelby graduated from Centeral High School the
class of 1969. For 6 years she has worked for Gushow Excavating in Auburn, whom
she considered family. On September 19, 1970 Shelby married Leon Yonkey, who
survives along with their 2 children; Barry Yonkey, Jocelyn Morgan, 2 sisters; Stella
(Larry) Roth, Sue (Dennis) Janasik, 2 grandchildren; Jarren and Sydnie, many nieces
nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends; Mary Maxson and Beverly Buchannon.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Shelby was passionate about being a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church (Monitor) and participating in the choir. She
loved her yearly trips to Florida and most importantly she loved her family. She
especially looked forward to Sundays with her dad. Shelby was a compassionate
and caring person who always did for others. She worked for Created for Caring
for many years in many capacities to help those in need.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday January 14, 2013 at Trinity
Lutheran Church (Monitor, Salzburg & 8 Mile Rds.) Rev. David F. Sherry will
officiate, cremation will follow. Shelby’s family will receive friends at the Auburn
Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00-8:00
p.m. On Monday morning Shelby will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m.
until time of service. In lieu of flowers, envelopes for “A time to build” at Trinity
Lutheran Church (Monitor) will be available at the funeral home.
