Mary Lou O'Donnell
O’DONNELL, Mary Lou – Of Flint, age 80, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Avalon Hospice. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road in Burton, Father Tim MacDonald officiating.
Cremation will take place following the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or Holy Redeemer Education Trust. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. -2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary Lou was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 14, 1929, the daughter of Louis and Marion (Burnham) Charron. She was a graduate of Michigan State University, receiving her Master’s and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta International Fraternity. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was on the Council of Catholic Women. Mary Lou sponsored youth teams for the Greater Flint Hockey Association and Eastern Michigan Hockey Association. She was a volunteer at the North End Soup Kitchen. She was an avid reader and traveler, volunteered at both Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and school and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mary Lou taught fourth grade at Holy Redeemer School for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Surviving are four children, Aidan and wife Rhonda of Flint, Michael and wife Lisa of Fenton, Patrick L. and wife Karin of Grand Blanc, Amy and husband Jeff Robertson of Burton; six grandchildren, Heather (Robertson) and husband Kelvin Mock, Timothy Robertson, Caitlin, Cullen and Aubrey O’Donnell and Abigail O’Donnell; great-grandchild, Mary Lou was looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandchild, Emma Clare Mock, in May; sister-in-law, Ilene Charron; nieces and nephews, Debbie and husband Lou Woike (Erin, Dani Woike and husband Tim Berringer), Jennifer and husband John Johnson (Katie, Joe and Stephanie), Louis John Charron, III (Emily and Hannah), Michael and wife Debbie Charron (Amanda and Zach). She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick A. O’Donnell; her brother, Louis John “Murph” Charron, II.
