Daughter of the late Edward and Amelia (Beiser) Schmidt died at age 94 at the
Cartwright Care Center in Saginaw Township. She was baptized, schooled and
confirmed at Trinity Monitor Lutheran Church where she was a member until
she married Roland Foerster in 1941 and became a member of St. John (Amelith)
Lutheran Church, Roland predeceased her in 1975. At. St. John Edna was a member
of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) and a former member of
the senior choir. Her children are Alan (Sandra) Foerster and Maxine (Thomas)
Jankens. She dearly loved her seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren,
and one great-great grandchild. Her sister Arlene Zoellner survives her as do sisters
in-law and brothers in-law; Irene (Foerster) and Elmer Taglauer, Marion (Foerster)
and Donald Roedel and Gertrude Foerster. Brothers in-law Clarence Zoellner and
Clarence Foerster have predeceased her. Throughout her life she enjoyed baking
cookies and being out of doors tending to her roses.
Funeral and committal services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday January 31, 2013
at St. John (Amelith) Lutheran Church (Amelith & Mackinaw Rds.). Rev. Stephen P.
Starke will officiate. Private burial will take place in the church cemetery. Edna’s
family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral
Homes, Inc. on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8 :00 p.m. On Thursday morning Edna
will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers,
envelopes for St. John Lutheran Church and School (Amelith) will be available at the
funeral home.
