Obituary for Carol G. Pieniozek of Gladwin, Michigan
Carol, age 74, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Covenant Harrison Hospital in Saginaw. She was born to George and Gertrude Gibson on February 28, 1938 in Prescott, Michigan. Carol married Leo Pieniozek on July 6, 1968 at St. John Catholic Church in Standish. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1956 and received her teaching degree from Central Michigan University. Carol taught school for 39 years before retiring from Standish-Sterling Central High School in 1997. She loved her students and teaching. Carol was a member of the MEA, NEA, Secord Lake Eagles Club and CMU Alumni Association. She loved life, was a very giving and caring person who had many friends. She enjoyed living on the lake and pontoon rides and traveling.
Carol is survived by her husband Leo; nephews Roger (Carol) Eymer and Rex Gibson, niece Linda (Bart) Partlo, sisters-in-law Angeline Pieniozek, Lillian and Kathryn Pieniozek, brothers-in-law John (Pam) Pieniozek and Chester (Pat) Pieniozek, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, sister Winnie (Fred) Netzlaff, brothers Bill (Louise) Gibson and Hoot Gibson, brothers-in-law Frank (Donna) Pieniozek, Stanley Pieniozek and Edward Pieniozek, John Pilat and sister-in-law Lottie Pilat.
Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, 423 W Cedar St in Standish. Carol will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. Family will greet friends at the R. O. Savage Funeral Chapel on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial to the Standish-Sterling Education Association Scholarship Fund.
