Mary Konieczka - Koons, 60, passed away Monday after a brief battle with cancer. She was born December 29th, 1952 in Saginaw, Mi. to Jerome and Mary Konieczka.
Mary graduated from St. Stevens High School in 1971. She attended college at Michigan State University, where she achieved a degree in criminal justice. Upon graduating, she married Douglas Koons. After raising her family, she worked for 25 years at MSU retiring from the Department of Radiology.
She was an active member of St. James Church where she taught Sunday Bible School for many years.
Her interests included family, snowshoeing, sewing, and craft projects. She loved working in her flower gardens and after retirement achieved her Master Gardeners Certificate. She was very active in the community and volunteered her time with the Sycamore Creek Garden Club of Mason.
Mary is survived by her mother, Mary Konieczka; husband, Douglas Koons; two sisters, Michele (Rob) Malow and Janet (Mark) Schramke; two sons, Daniel Koons and Douglas (Heather) Koons; and three grandchildren, Ella, Eric, and Evelyn.
