Passed away Tuesday evening January 29, 2013 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw Township after a brief illness at the age of 92 years.  Louie was born in Maple Grove Township, New Lothrop, MI on November 19, 1920 to the late Raymond and Lucy (Birchmeier) Emmendorfer and has resided in this area most of his life. Louie retired from the Auburn Bean and Grain in 2002 at the age of 82 years after 20 years of service. Louie also served in the U S Navy as a Seabee during World War II. He was also a lifelong farmer in the area and was a long time member of the Gleaners. On January 17, 1953 he married Marion Buck; she predeceased him on July 11, 2004. Louie is survived by his son; Glen (Bethany) Emmendorfer of Freeland, a daughter; Marie (Jeffrey) Archambault of South Point, OH. Two grandchildren; John and Megan Archambault. Five brothers; Norbert (Maki) Emmendorfer, Donald (Rosemary) Emmendorfer, Eugene (Kate) Emmendorfer, Cletus (Lois) Emmendorfer, Richard “Bud” (Cathy) Emmendorfer, two sisters; Agnes Bofill and Elizabeth “Betty” Toma and several nieces and nephews. Louie was predeceased by two sisters; Pauline Evans and Rosemarie Fekete and three brothers; Bernard, Arnold and Arthur Emmendorfer.

 

Funeral and committal services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday February 4, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Freeland. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate with entombment to follow at Chapel Hill Mausoleum, Freeland. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Sunday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A wake service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Agnes Catholic Church of Freeland, American Diabetes Association, Cartwright Hospice Residence of Saginaw or the donor’s favorite charity.
