James Lambert Miller, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 1, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Jim, also known as Tillie by friends and family, was born on December 29, 1941 in Vassar, Michigan to Elgin and Mildred (Lambert) Miller. Preceded in death by his parents and several sisters and brothers, he is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Nancy; his adoring children, Heidi (Mark) Adams of Ida; Rachel (Marc) Iseler of Fowlerville; Jason (Trisha) Miller of Vassar; and his beloved grandchildren – Trinity, Scarlet, Sarah and Trusten Adams; and Jaymeson and Kaitlyn Iseler. He is also survived by sisters Katie (Roland) Bielert of Vassar, and Nancy (Miller) Worth of Vassar; and brother Gale (Barb) Miller of Vassar. In addition to several nieces and nephews, he also leaves behind special family friend, Heather (Dave) Middleton and family of Mayville.

A graduate of Vassar High School, Jim was retired from Maier Motor Freight and was a lifetime resident of the Vassar/Mayville area. He was an avid hunter and active in both the Mayville/Vassar post #10884 and the Mayville American Legion Post#181. Besides spending time telling stories to his family and friends, he loved working on his farm - raising beef cattle and poultry.

Jim was a unique man and one special cowboy. He will be missed deeply by his family and friends; but remembered always for his loving nature, sense of humor and his wide variety of cowboy hats and boots.

The family will be receiving visitors at Avrams Funeral Home in Mayville, on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 3-8 pm. Services will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Vassar with visitation 1 hour preceding the service. Internment will be immediately following the service at Tuscola Township Cemetery.
