Hubinger, Florence Lillian (Boldt)

Frankenmuth, MI

Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the Frankenmuth Lutheran Home; age 93 years.  Florence Boldt was born on March 3, 1919 in Birch Run, MI to the late Frank and Frieda (Pagels) Boldt.

She was married to Frederick Hubinger on Sept. 3, 1939; He predeceased her on Feb. 4, 2002.

She was born again as a child of God through Holy Baptism performed by the Rev. Fred Bickel on April 29, 1919 at Christ Lutheran Church in Birch Run. Her sponsors were Lizzy and John Pagels.

After Instruction in the Christian doctrine she was confirmed in her faith on March 20, 1932 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth by Rev. Franz Cares. Her confirmation verse was Song of Solomon 6:3, I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he feeds among the lilies.

Florence was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid, Sewing Circle, and in years past sang in the church choir.  She was also one of the original members of the Missionary Society, and a member of the Frankenmuth Historical Society.

Florence had been employed at Fishers’ Hotel in her early years, and later in life she was a hostess at the Bavarian Inn retiring there after sixteen years.

Florence had a special love for poetry, reading biographies of famous people, was an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and loved to travel.  Fred and Florence did a lot of traveling to many states and especially enjoyed the Eastern sea coast. They also traveled to Europe.  She had a strong desire to document and complete her family history, and spent many hours pursuing this.  She also worked tirelessly finding old group baseball pictures from the Frankenmuth area, and then donated them all to the Frankenmuth Softball Hall of Fame for future generations to enjoy.

She leaves to mourn her death two sons and two daughters; John (Dottie) Hubinger of Lansing, MI, David ( Janine) Hubinger of South Pasadena CA, Ruth (Jerry) Reinert of Frankenmuth, MI, Mary (Gary) Daenzer of Midland, MI, grandchildren; Nathan (Ros) Hubinger, Matthew (Monica)Hubinger, Shelley (David) Jewell, Laurie (Nick) Ferdinand, Katie (Ryan) Furtado, David, Christopher and Meagan Hubinger, four great grandsons; Wolfgang, Sebastian, Jonathan and Steven Hubinger, a great granddaughter; Tessa Jewell and two future great grand children in March a boy Carter, and a girl Macy.  She is also survived by one niece and two nephews Virginia Schreiner, Jim and Fred Boldt.
