GAWNE, Helen G. - Of Flint, age 76, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held 12noon Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the American Legion Hall, 4314 W. Carpenter Road, Flint. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion in Mt. Morris Township. Visitation 11am Wednesday, February 17th at the American Legion Hall. Helen was born in Clio, MI on December 29, 1933, the daughter of the late Irvin and Lucille (Sears) Curtis. On September 24, 1947, she married George Gawne who preceded her in death on February 11, 1994. Helen was a member of the Eagles of Vassar and American Legion in Mt. Morris Township. Helen Loved playing cards. Surviving are companion, Don Dohrman; Children, George David and wife Karen Gawne, Vickie Gawne, Sandy Scott, and Tom Gawne; Sisters, Florence McLain, Doris (Leo) Atchison, Marian Frederick, Nancy (George) Powell, Charlotte (Willis) Daniels, Sharon (Charlie) Tusciuk, Linda (Fred) Sterns; Sister-in-law, Millie Curtis; Several grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins.
