            Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at University of Michigan Hospital, at the age of 64 years.

            The son of the late Clifford and Sarah (Alderton) Hagarty was born on September 22, 1948 in Saginaw.  He married Janet S. Combs on January 11, 1969; she survives him.  John retired from GM Plant 2 after 32 years of service.  He then drove bus for the Hemlock Public Schools for 7 years.  He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, camping, kayaking, and building cedar striped canoes.  John was very devoted to his family, enjoying spending time with them and being the grandchildren’s #1 sports fan, always present at their sporting events in Hemlock.

            Surviving besides his wife of 44 years, Janet are their children: Amy (Lance) Harvey and their children: Jordan, Kennedy, Hayden, and Reiss Harvey; Andrew (Krista) Hagarty and their children: Anthony and Maria Hagarty; Kelly (Lance) Sedwick and their children: Julia, Garrett and Justin Sedwick; his siblings; Dick (Diane) Hagarty, Judi (Roland) Niederstadt, Jean (Don) Hollingsworth, Patrick (Lisa) Hagarty, Mary Jo (Christian) Adams, his mother and father-in-law John and Marjorie Combs, sisters and brothers-in-law; Dave (Sue) Combs, Margie (Al) Doty, John Combs II, many nieces and nephews and his cherished cat, Cash.

            Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd.  Rev. Richard E. Mundt will officiate with cremation to follow.  Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.  Those planning an expression may wish to consider Schnepps Senior Care and Rehab or the Hemlock Sports Boosters.
