Passed away Saturday afternoon February 9, 2013 at her home in Freeland after a brief illness at the age of 93 years. Arthella was born September 2, 1919 in Frankenmuth, MI to the late Arthur and Anna (Baker) Emeott and has resided in this area all of her life. Arthella was a charter member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Freeland, she loved gardening, enjoyed doing puzzles, crocheting and needle work. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and being outdoors. She also enjoyed bird watching. On October 23, 1937 she married Bernard A. Foy; he predeceased her on March 25, 2003. Arthella is survived by two sons; Dale (Janet) Foy of Freeland, Ron (Linda) Foy of Yuma, AZ. One daughter; Janet Douglas of Freeland, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by three brothers; Francis Emeott of Hemlock, Alfred (Reta) Emeott of Freeland, Dale (Esther) Emeott of Midland and one sister; Lorna Mae Mulvaney of Midland. A brother; Vincent Emeott has predeceased Arthella.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday February 14, 2013 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Freeland, MI. Rev. Fr. Robert Deland will officiate. Per Arthella’s wishes cremation has already taken place. Friends may call at the Cunningham/Taylor Funeral Home, 310 E. Washington St., Freeland on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. and then at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A wake service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and a rosary service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Agnes Catholic Church Building Fund, the American Heart Association, Southern Hospice of Saginaw or the donor’s favorite charity.
