John passed peacefully to his heavenly home on February 4, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region. He was born May 26, 1932 in Flint Michigan to the late Harold and Catherine (Shaw) Bradford. He served 21 years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. In 1974, after retiring, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University in accounting, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He began his second career as a Controller for several area businesses, including Bay Osteopathic and Owosso Memorial Hospitals, Euclid Tool and Die, and Nucor Corporation. He served for 13 years as Secretary Treasurer at the Paul Bunyan Branch #358 Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed golf, country music, sailing, politics, and above all….his grandchildren. “Papa” was a kind-hearted, humorous and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be missed.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Kiyoko; children, Karen Taylor of Midland MI, Jeff Bradford of Allen TX, Scott Bradford of Arlington VA; grandchildren, Ashley Taylor (Andrew) Salter, Kelsey Taylor, Erica Taylor, Elizabeth & John Bradford, Naomi Bradford, Lydia Bradford; great-granddaughter, Kaiya Salter; sisters, Rosalie (Donald) Gavrilof of Swartz Creek MI, Donna Cornelison of Davison MI. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Galbrath.
