Survived By: Gordon is survived by his wife, Viola, and his four children, Renee (Bob) Raney, Stuart (Nancy) Bierlein, Louann Bierlein (Tim) Palmer, and Sandy (Tom) Reinbold. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Melinda (Matt) Tysick, Lindsey (Marty) Hessler, Carolyn (Nate) Pepple, Stephanie (fiancé Brian Calloway) Bierlein, Mary (Rob) Schember, Ashley (Micah) Laux, Becky (Eric) Ball, Kristin and Courtney Reinbold, Justin and Kyle Palmer. Also, 5 ˝ great-grand children, Aidan and Ethan Tysick, Gabe and Abby Pepple, Nicholas Hessler (and baby Hessler due in June). Gordon has two surviving siblings, Fritz (Dorothy) Bierlein and Delores (Dewey) Eischer and one sister-in-law, Gert Bierlein. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Carl and Alma (Blank) Bierlein, and one sibling, Ron Bierlein.
Affiliations: A farmer his entire life, Gordon spent time on the tractor and in the woods, even this past fall. Gordon's life centered on his faith and family, and along with Viola, he nurtured many generations of 4-H students. Gordon was a life long member of Farm Bureau. "Hauling piggies" with grandpa was a favorite pastime for his children and grandchildren, as well as spending time at the hunting cabin. His family is comforted knowing that he is now in heaven, walking, laughing, and farming again. Gordon was a life-long member of St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Richville, MI. He was an active member of the Lutheran Laymen's League men's club.

Gordon Arthur Bierlein, age 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2013. Born September 3, 1929, he married Viola L. Auernhamer on December 9, 1950, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday February 27, 2013 from the St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville. Rev. Wesley Gillaspie and Rev. Rob Gadeken will both officiate with committal services to follow in the St. Michael’s Cemetery. Gordon’s family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw St. in Reese on Tuesday from 2-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Due to family allergies to floral arrangements, Gordon’s family requests that donations is his name be made to the, St. Michael’s Tape Ministry, St. Michael’s Lutheran Church in Richville or a 4-H Scholarship Fund to be set up in his name instead of flowers.
