David C. Elder, Sr. of Flushing, age 81, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at home.  Funeral services will be held 1PM Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Flushing Presbyterian Church.  Rev. Teresa Peterson will officiate.  Cremation will follow the services.  Visitation will be 6-8PM Tuesday and Noon-4PM and 6-8PM Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and Noon until time of the service Thursday at the church.  A Masonic Memorial Service under the auspices of Masonic Lodge #490 will be held 7PM Wednesday at the funeral home.  If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Presbyterian Church or Children’s Miracle Network.

David was born October 24, 1928 in Flint, MI, the son of David Thomas and Mary (Margeson) Elder.  He married Barbara Ann Borey on June 14, 1947. 

David graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1947.  He was a co-owner of Shue Cartage and also owned the Village Party Shoppe, retiring in 1979.  Later he worked at EBS/Versys Computer Services and volunteered for 11 years driving a coach at Genesys Regional Medical Center.  David was a lifetime member of Fellowship Masonic Lodge #490, Flint and a charter member of Flushing Presbyterian Church.  He enjoyed model building, woodworking, yard work, and especially watching his grandchildren play sports.

David is survived by: wife, Barbara; 4 children, David (Sheri) Elder Jr. of Flushing, Keith Elder (Mark Dennison) of Tampa, FL, Marc (Kim) Elder of Swartz Creek, Valerie Allred of Flushing; grandchildren, Kendra (Tim) Davis, David Elder, III, Ben (Terri) Elder, Katie Elder, Samantha and Alexis Allred; 9 great-grandchildren and one more on the way; sister, Arline Hiller of Houghton Lake; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
