LYON, Nancy L. - Of Flint, age 78, died Monday, February 22, 2010

at her residence.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint Father Robert F. Copeland officiating.

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingsley, Michigan.

Contribution may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society or flowers by West Flint Flower Shop.

Visitation 2-8pm Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Mrs. Lyon will be at the church 10:30am Saturday until the time of the Mass.

Nancy was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 31, 1931, the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Turner) Schaar. Nancy was a graduate of Owosso High School. She had a passion for animals and was a member of PETA, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Northeast Animal Shelter, Alley Cat Allies, to name a few. She will be missed by all of God’s creatures. She had a passion for making their lives better.

Surviving are son, Jason and wife Kerri Lyon and their daughters, Monica and Marisa Lyon;

daughter, Susan B. Lyon and her children Jessica, Stuart, Elizabeth and Josef Lantz;

daughter, Nancy A. Lyon;

in-laws, Shirley and husband Mike McBride, Joyce Lyon, Dee and husband John Mills; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Bill; brothers, Maitlin Schaar and Jack Schaar; best friend and sister, Jeri Schaar.
