Peter Parrent, 78, of Munger, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center. He was born September 22, 1931 in Tuscola County, son of the late Anthony and Georgiana ( Bolduc) Parrent. He was a graduate of St. James High School in Bay City and also attended Delta College. Peter served four years with U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 4, 1971 he married the former Clara Erndt in Saginaw. Mr. Parrent was employed for 31 years at the G.M. Parts Plant in Saginaw, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church in Munger and was a master woodcrafter who enjoyed making toys for his beloved grandchildren.
Surviving besides his wife Clara are his four sons and one daughter and their spouses, Greg and Heidi White of Frankenmuth; Kelly White of Bay City; Kevin and Jodie White of Munger; Peter A. Parrent of Traverse City; and Denise and James Pogoreski of Reese, eight-grandsons, one-granddaughter, and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Paul Parrent and his wife Marilyn of California, and two sisters, Lorraine Geiger of Fenton and Elizabeth Sigelko of Midland. In addition to his parents Peter was predeceased by two brothers, Charlie and Pat Parrent.
In honoring Mr. Parrent’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Mass to honor his life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday March 5, 2010 from the St. Norbert Catholic Church in Munger. Fr. Bill Gruden will officiate. Military honors with will be presented after Mass by the U.S. Army. Mr. Parrent’s family will receive friends at the St. Norbert Catholic Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, 9940 Saginaw St. Reese. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the St. Norbert Catholic Church or Merritt Township Fire~Rescue.
