Dwan, John M. of Bay City, Michigan passed away at home Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the age of 68.  Son of the late Dr. James V. and Margaret (Charters) Dwan, John was born November 27, 1941 in Saginaw where he attended St. Mary School and graduated from Saginaw High School in 1960.  He served his country with the U.S. Navy and was employed with GM Steering Gear.  John was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, served on the executive board of the Moose Lodge 169, and was a founding member of Save Our Shoreline (S.O.S.).   He was a devoted brother,  uncle and friend, and will be dearly missed.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Mary (Clement) Richter of Saginaw, and Ellen (John) Peters of East Lansing; his sisters-in-law Janet Dwan of Saginaw, and Carol Dwan of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.   Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Lawrence Vorwerck, and his brothers H. Michael and James C. Dwan.

 

The Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.  Rev. Fr. Anthony C. Richter and Sr. Virginia Scally SNDdeN will officiate at the funeral rites with cremation to follow.  Friends may call at the Stapish Cederberg Funeral Home West on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where a Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:00 p.m.  John will lie in state at church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass.  In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Moose Lodge 169, S.O.S., or the charity of donor’s choice.
