Loyal “Yum” H. Emberts, 99, of Brighton and former Reese resident, died Thursday evening, January 16, 2014 at the St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital in Howell.  He was born on October 31, 1914 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, son of the late John and Anna Emberts.  He married the former Nona M. Falkenhagen on July 1, 1940 in Reese.  She preceded him on February 18, 1999. Yum had farmed in the Reese area since 1946, retiring in 1976.  Along with his wife, they had wintered in Bradenton, Florida.  He was a member of Reese Fire Rescue and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing poker and spending time with his family.  Surviving are his children and their spouses, Vern (Bev) Emberts of St. Johns, Bill (Celia) Emberts of Louisville, Kentucky, Ann (Phil) Davidson of Whitmore Lake, Louise Johnson of Longmont, Colorado; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, 1 grandson, William Dean Emberts and several brothers and sisters all preceded him in death.  Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street, Reese.  Rev. Tom Senge of Christ Lutheran Church will officiate with entombment at Oakwood Mausoleum.  Yum’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3-7 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider, Reese Fire Rescue, Bucks for Brian or the American Heart Association.
