Nora Kay Giesken (1944-2010), died peacefully at home with her family present on April 19, 2010. Nora was 65 years old and a long time resident of Chesaning, Michigan.

 

Nora was born on June 6, 1944 in Owosso, Michigan. Nora was the daughter of the late Waldo and Dorothy Stinson of Owosso, Michigan.

 

Nora graduated from Owosso High School in 1962, and attended Baker College in Owosso. Nora worked as an assistant manager in the cash office for Montgomery Ward’s in Owosso; then, for several years with Alternative Services in Montrose with developmentally disabled adults. Nora also worked with Shiawassee County juvenile detention center.  

Nora is survived by, her husband of 40 years Jerry Giesken of Chesaning, Michigan. Sons; Mark Giesken of Norman, Oklahoma. Kevin and  daughter-in-law Misty Giesken of Bay City, Michigan; and Daughter Jeri Lynn and son-in-law Daniel Estrada of Saginaw, Michigan. Nora was the proud Grandmother of 5 grandchildren. Victoria Giesken of Chesaning, and Ashley, Brianna, Daniel, Autumn Estrada of Saginaw, and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Lyle Stinson of Owosso. 

Nora was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Leo Stinson. 

Nora loved her hobby of plastic canvas, making and handing out several hand made crosses over the last several years. She also loved her cat Tobi., and country music singer Toby Keith. Nora recently celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary to husband Jerry and witnessed son Kevin and wife Misty exchange vows. In 2000, Nora and Jerry traveled to Hawaii for their 30th wedding anniversary, a trip that she never forgot and often longed to go back to Hawaii. 

Nora rests peacefully now after a lengthy battle with Coronary Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). 

Funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Saginaw. Fr. Jack Johnson will officiate with burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Chesaning. Friends may call at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home, Chesaning on Wednesday from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at church on Thursday after 10:00 a.m. There will be a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to national Kidney Foundation, American Diabetes Assoc. or American Heart assoc.
